Anti-US Posters
Anti-US propaganda has long been the staple of North Korean culture and was ubiquitous across the country. They were highly sought after tourists souvenirs and you could buy them as stamps, postcards, A3 sized and full sized posters.
반미선전 포스터는 오랜동안 북한 문화에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있으며, 북한의 모든 도처에서 볼 수 있습니다. 관광객들의 기념품으로서도 매우 인기가 높은데 우표나, 엽서 혹은 A3크기의 포스터로도 구매가 가능합니다.
However between the months of April to May 2018, all forms of anti-US materials were ordered to be removed across the country. This was in lieu of the upcoming US-DPRK Summit in Singapore.
2018년 4월과 5월에는 전국에 걸쳐 모든 반미 선전품들을 내리라는 지시가 있었습니다. 싱가포르에서 열리는 북-미 정상회담으로 말미암아 취해진 조치입니다.
I was in Rason from the 23rd to 25th June 2018 and visited the tourist souvenir shops but was told they could no longer sell anything deemed anti-american because it was instructed by the state.
2018년 6월 23일에서 25일까지 라선에 있는 동안에 여러 기념품점을 가봤으나, 나라에서 내려온 지시때문에 반미라고 여겨질만한 어떤 물품도 팔지 않는다고 하더군요.
Since it might be a while (or maybe never) we’ll see such posters on sale again, I’ve created a 360° virtual gallery that features just a few of the more popular anti-US posters. I’ve also included English translations for the posters.

Fast forward to the year 2020 and not much progress has really been made between the US-DPRK relations. I’m sure it’s quite a disappointment for the people of both countries.
시간이 빨리 흘러 2020년이 되었지만 미국과 북한 양국간의 관계에 별다른 진척이 이루어지지 않았습니다. 양국의 국민들도 대단히 실망스러울것 같습니다.
Singapore has built a memorial plaque at the spot where Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un first shook hands. I visited that spot in 2019 with my friend and YouTuber, Emil Truszkowski . Do check out his Polish YouTube channel featuring all things related to North Korea.
