To date, 4 of my readers sent me messages regarding advertisements on my website. They felt that advertisements are a product of capitalism, are an eyesore, and that I should remove all advertising. While it is only a very small number that somehow felt irritated by Google Ads, I felt I should at least explain the necessity for having them.

오늘까지 4명의 구독자께서 저의 홈페이지의 광고에 대해서 메세지를 보내주셨습니다. 광고란 자본주의의 산물이고, 또 눈에 거슬리는 것이라서 제 홈페이지에서 광고들을 모두 제거하는게 좋겠다는 의견이었습니다. 비록 소수이시기는 하지만 구글 광고에 대해서 불편하게 생각하시는 분이 계시므로 제가 왜 광고배너를 게시해야만 하는지에 대해서 설명을 드러야할것 같습니다. 

I agree that ads can be an eyesore and occasionally distract a reader, however I have to point out that unlike some websites covering North Korean news and issues, mine receives no funding. Advertising on my YouTube channel and website earns just enough to cover the registration and hosting costs to keep this website online. Website hosting is unlike Facebook, where you get to use their service for free simply by offering your personal data.

광고들이 눈에 거슬리고 때로는 독자들의 주의를 산만하게 한다는 것에 동의합니다. 하지만 말씀드리고 싶은 것은 북한의 뉴스나 이슈들을 다루는 다른 웹사이트와 달리 저의 홈페이지는 어떠한 재정적인 후원을 받고 있지 않습니다. 유튜브나 홈페이지를 통해서 발생하는 수익은 홈페이지를 등록하고 관리 유지하는 비용정도에 불과합니다. 웹사이트 호스팅은 페이스북처럼 단지 자신의 정보를 제공하는 댓가로 무료로 주어지는 서비스가 아니기 때문입니다. 

A rather humorous incident also came about form a reader who private messaged me regarding sexy and dating ads that appeared on my website. He expressed concern that it was inappropriate for me to cooperate with such advertisers. 🤣

다소 웃지못할 일들도 있는데요, 한 독자분께서 제 홈페이지에 섹시 데이트 광고가 뜬다고 메세지를 보내주셨습니다. 제가 그러한 광고주와 함께 일하는 것은 부적절해보인다고 걱정을 해주시면서 말이죠. 🤣

Google tracks your location, internet browser history and cookies to serve you advertisements that they think best suits your profile. So, if you see sexy, dating or even kinky advertisements… well then… Google somehow thinks they suit your profile 😉

구글은 독자분들의 위치, 인터넷 검색기록과 쿠키들을 참고해서 독자에게 가장 관련이 있을 만한 광고를 띄워줍니다. 그러므로 만일 여러분이 섹시 데이트광고라든지 혹은 다소 변태적인 광고들을 보시게 된다면….. 음 그건… 어쨌든 그게 여러분의 관심사라고 구글이 생각하기 때문이겠죠. 쿨럭.  😉
